Jan. 14, 2010 – Mezzo-soprano Kirsten Gunlogson has been nominated for a Grammy award in the category of best classical album of 2009 for her performance on the album “Ravel: L’Enfant Et Les Sortilèges” (The Child and the Spells) with the Nashville Symphony Orchestra.
Gunlogson is assistant professor in the University of Utah‘s School of Music and has distinguished herself as an impressive singing actress, having performed with Michigan Opera Theatre, Indianapolis Opera, Palm Beach Opera, Tulsa Opera, Pittsburgh Opera, Toledo Opera, Nashville Opera, Kentucky Opera, Sarasota Opera, Fresno Grand Opera, Pine Mountain Music Festival and the AshLawn-Highland Summer Festival.
The winners will be announced at the 52nd Annual Grammy Awards on Sunday, January 31, 2010 in Los Angeles.

Gunlogson’s voice has been described as “rich,” “creamy” and “beautifully dramatic.” She is recognized for her ability to convey both emotion and text and is in high demand as a concert artist.
Gunlogson has performed as an oratorio soloist with The Nashville Symphony, The Indianapolis Symphonic Choir, The Fort Wayne Philharmonic, The Johnstown Symphony, The Pittsburgh Concert Chorale, Charlottesville Oratorio Society, The Ma’alwyck Sinfonia and The Fairfax Symphony in such works as Mahler’s Resurrection Symphony, Beethoven’s Ninth Symphony, Mass in C and Missa Solemnis, Bach’s St. John Passion and Christmas Oratorio, The Messiah, and The Rachmaninoff Vespers.
Gunlogson recently performed at Carnegie Hall as the alto soloist in Mozart Vesperae solennes de Confessore and Haydn’s Theresienmesse, in addition to making her debut with Utah Symphony and Opera as Tessa in The Gondoliers as well as the alto soloist in Mozart’s Vesperae solennes de Confessore.
