August 16, 2007 — Fall semester at the University of Utah witnesses its earliest start to date, beginning this Monday, August 20. The modified start to the semester is not the only change to distinguish this academic year from those preceding.
In addition to an early start, the U’s Academic Senate voted to begin fall semester of 2007 on a Monday instead of the traditional Wednesday with the goal of providing a more comprehensive and fulfilling academic schedule. The earlier start will also accommodate a week-long fall break-the first ever at the U-which will run October 8-12, as well as the traditional Thanksgiving holiday break.
The jump start to the semester may catch some students by surprise, but it is not too late to register for fall classes. The U offers simple, on-line registration which can be found, along with a complete list of class schedules and calendar of the 2007-2008 academic year, at www.utah.edu.
More information on registration may be obtained by calling the Office of the Registrar at 801-581-5808 or by email at registrar@sa.utah.edu.
