January 30, 2003 — The David Eccles School of Business, in cooperation with Governor Mike Leavitt and his upcoming trade mission to Mexico, today announced the establishment of a scholarship for Mexican nationals who wish to pursue an MBA.

The Mexican National MBA Fellowship is being established as part of the School of Business’ commitment to academic excellence and in appreciation of diversity’s contribution to a dynamic learning environment. “We are all aware of the importance of a diverse classroom as we prepare students for a global business environment. The David Eccles School of Business sees this as an opportunity to attract some top-notch students from Mexico, who will bring valuable perspectives from their country,” said Jack Brittain, Dean of the David Eccles School of Business.

The first ever fellowship will be presented for the academic years 2004 and 2005.

The Fellowship includes:

— A cash stipend.
— Full tuition.
— A renewal of benefits for a second year with maintenance of a GPA of 3.2 or better in all graduate coursework.

The Fellowship provides the opportunity for the Fellow to:

— Work collaboratively with other MBA international scholars.
— Work with faculty on research, projects or program initiatives.

The Fellowship recipient will be selected based on the following considerations:

— Mexican National Citizen.
— Completion of an undergraduate degree from an institution accredited by the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business International, with a GPA of 3.5 or better.
— Completion of the GMAT within the last five years with a score of 680 or better.

To be considered for admission, candidates must:

— Complete an application to the David Eccles School of Business found online at www.business.utah.edu/masters by the application deadline of March 15, 2004.
— Complete an application to the Graduate School of the University of Utah.
— Have taken Calculus and Statistics with a B or better.
— Submit a scholarship application to the David Eccles School of Business (part of the online application).

*The David Eccles School of Business is pleased to also reserve a second seat in its’ MBA program for another similarly qualified Mexican National Citizen who comes with financial support certified by the Mexican Government.
