David Eccles School of Business Creates James Lee Sorenson Center for Global Impact Investing

The David Eccles School of Business at the University of Utah today announced the creation of the James Lee Sorenson Center for Global Impact Investing. Created through a $13 million personal gift from James Lee Sorenson, the new center will engage students at the University of Utah and partner universities in creating sustainable change on regional and global levels through high-impact social investment, innovative curriculum and research.

Women in Science Program Receives Grant from Chevron

The University of Utah College of Science’s ACCESS Program for Women in Science and Mathematics is being highlighted at an event to announce a grant to the program from Chevron. The program began in 1991 as a way to address the problem of gender inequity in mathematics and the sciences.

The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency has awarded two University of Utah engineering teams with grants for sustainability research: chemical engineers will optimize cookstove design in rural Nepal, while civil engineers will design treatments for polluted water from olive oil mills in the West Bank.
