UNP, SLCAP, and ZIONS BANK TEAM UP TO ADMINISTER FUND TO AID HARTLAND RESIDENTS

University Neighborhood Partners (UNP), Salt Lake Community Action Program (SLCAP), and Zion’s Bank have teamed up to administer an account that accepts private donations that will help the hundreds of residents living at the Hartland Apartment Complex. The funds will support families dealing with rent increases and relocation. Donations are now being accepted at Salt Lake Community Action Program, 764 South 200 West. Clinton Assistant Ibarra to Donate Papers to U’s Marriott Library

Mickey Ibarra, former Assistant to President Clinton and Director of Intergovernmental Affairs at The White House (1997-2001), will be signing a deed agreement transferring his personal White House and Salt Lake 2002 Olympic Winter Games papers to the University of Utah’s J. Willard Marriott Library. The signing and unveiling of special items will occur outside the office of University of Utah President Michael K. Young on Thursday, May 3, 2007 at 1:00 p.m. (Park Building, main floor). Ibarra and President Young will be available for interviews following the signing ceremony.

U OF U COMMENCEMENT ON MAY 4 TO GRADUATE MORE THAN 7,100

Commencement ceremonies at the University of Utah will be held on Friday, May 4, at 9 a.m. in the Jon M. Huntsman Center. The class of 2007, comprised of 7,166 graduates, will receive degrees that morning. The procession of diverse students, who come from 75 countries, 48 U.S. states and 27 of Utah’s 29 counties, will begin at 8:30 a.m. Guests should plan to be in their seats prior to 8:30 a.m. Tickets are not required.

U OF U FINE ARTS STUDENTS & NEIGHBORHOOD HOUSE CHILDREN UNITE IN MUSIC, DANCE AND DRAMA

The University of Utah Fine Arts Auditorium will fill with laughter, music, and movement as children who attend Neighborhood House perform the original production “Neighborhood Jungle Pie” on April 25th at 6:30 p.m. The performance is the culmination of a partnership between University students enrolled in the Fine Arts LEAP, “Learning, Engagement, Achievement, and Progress” program, and children from Neighborhood House, a Salt Lake City daycare facility for financially disadvantaged children. In addition, a documentary about the creation of “Neighborhood Jungle Pie” will be screened that evening.
