Past or Present? Racism & Oppression in the United States” is the theme for the 2006 Martin Luther King, Jr. Celebration at the University of Utah. Festivities begin with the opening of an art exhibit by students EJ Curry and Carlos Perez and the launch of “Sharing the Gift of Literacy” a community service project. New English and Bilingual dictionaries as well as school supplies may be donated to benefit the West High Family Literacy Center.

UMFA Exhibition Revisits Utah’s Unique Past

Revisiting Utah’s Past on view at the Utah Museum of Fine Arts from January 14 through July 23, 2006, presents paintings and sculpture from the Museum’s collection that document Utah’s unique history. In partnership with the University of Utah’s J. Willard Marriott Library and the Utah State Historical Society, the exhibition also includes historical interpretive materials such as photographs, books, and journals that provide additional perspectives and connections to artists’ perceptions.

U of U Women’s Resource Center Introduces Young Women to Higher Education

Aishatu and Aminatu Yusuf say attending college was a natural progression of their learning. “Our mom was a non-traditional college student. I went to school with her and sat in the corner,” says Aminatu, a junior majoring in health promotion and education. “My mom was always telling us the history of African Americans in this country; that we didn’t always have the opportunity to get an education; and that attending college is an opportunity to take.”

Financial Times Ranks David Eccles School of Business EMBA Program among the Top 75 in the World

The Financial Times has announced that the David Eccles School of Business (DESB) Executive MBA program ranks among the top 75 in the world. The popular British newspaper and Web site will publish its rankings list Monday, October 24. For the second year in a row the Executive MBA program at the University of Utah is the only program in Utah to be ranked. The David Eccles School of Business placed 66th overall and 37th in the United States. The school’s overall ranking shows an increase of one spot from the year before.
