April 26, 2007 — Adventure seekers and curious wanderers will thrill at the opportunity to experience the University of Utah in an exciting new way at “Terra Animus,” an invigorating walk through campus celebrating landscape, creativity and the arts. The event, free and open to the public, will take place April 27 and 28 at 6 p.m. beginning on lawn at the University of Utah President’s Circle. Free parking will be available at the University Bookstore visitor’s lot.
Orchestrated by U of U modern dance majors Rachel Goldman and Dana Ten Broeck, the experimental collaboration will connect artists within the University and the greater Salt Lake community in an experimental collaboration engaging audience with ambiance.
“The vision for this project,” they explain, “is to guide the audience through the U of U campus, encouraging them to see it in a new and exciting way. We will surround them with art that brings the landscape to life.”
Expect to see a new large-scale sculpture by local artist Maureen Morris, witness live dancing birds and frolicking tree huggers, hear the strumming and plucking of bluegrass players from Puddle Mountain Ramblers, and encounter poetry on the move. The walk culminates with a celebration involving the artists and audience, with plans to provide delectable morsels from One World Cafe.
The production will take place rain or shine with trash bags provided for rain. Donations toward collaborative and experimental art within the University and local community are welcome.
