August 11, 2014 – Make an evening of your museum visit this summer and enjoy some toe-tapping music, delectable barbecue and incredible views of the Salt Lake Valley.

In conjunction with its newest exhibit, “The Horse,” the Natural History Museum of Utah at the Rio Tinto Center is offering three nights of free bluegrass music with barbecue for purchase.

The local O Brother Band opens the series on Wednesday, Aug. 13 performing traditional bluegrass from 6-8:30 p.m. in the Canyon, which is open to the public at no charge. A variety of barbecue treats for sale will be provided by the NHMU Café. The museum exhibits, including “The Horse,” will stay open for visitors with paid admission.

Additional Bluegrass and BBQ nights, which are co-presented by radio station KRCL, are scheduled for Wednesday, Aug. 27 with Puddle Mountain Ramblers, and Wednesday, Sept. 10 featuring band The Lab Dogs and food by StarFire BBQ.
