February 1, 2011 -The University of Utah will host the 35th annual Banff Mountain Film Festival at Kingsbury Hall Feb. 22-24. This is the 20th year the university’s outdoor recreation program (ORP) has sponsored the film festival, which will include three nights of films. Shows start at 7 p.m. each night.
The following week, the Banff Radical Reels Tour will be held at Kingsbury Hall on Thursday, Mar. 3, at 7:00 p.m. All tickets are on sale now for $9.00 at the ORP building, REI and at Kingsbury Hall. The prestigious Banff Mountain Film Festival is presented by National Geographic, The North Face and Parks Canada. It boasts the world’s best mountain films, videos and speakers that promise to exhilarate with amazing big-screen stories. Viewers will journey to exotic locations, paddle the wildest waters and climb the highest peaks.
“These films seem to get better each year and I think this group is the best yet,” says Rob Jones, manager of the outdoor recreation program. “They not only bring people to places that they might never see in their lifetimes, but these productions also showcase a wide variety of the latest outdoor gear, which is what we are all about at outdoor rec. “
