Jannah Mather, elected to the Board of Directors of the National Association of Deans and Directors of Schools of Social Work (NADD).

April 9, 2013 – Jannah Mather, dean of the University of Utah College of Social Work, has been elected to the Board of Directors of the National Association of Deans and Directors of Schools of Social Work (NADD).  Her selection was announced Tuesday morning during NADD’s annual conference in Laguna Beach, CA.

Positions on the NADD Board of Directors are filled through a competitive nomination and election process.  All members of NADD – more than 200 deans and directors of schools or colleges of social work throughout the United States – are eligible for selection and to vote.

“I am pleased that Dean Mather’s record of outstanding leadership has been recognized by her peers,” said U President David Pershing.  “During her tenure at the University of Utah College of Social Work, she has proved to be an inspired administrator, dedicated educator, and innovative scholar.  She will be a valued addition to the NADD Board of Directors.”

Mather will begin her 3-year term immediately, becoming the tenth member of the Board of Directors.  “I am honored to join my esteemed colleagues on NADD’s Board of Directors, and humbled to have received the support and endorsement of so many of my peers in higher education,” said Mather.  “I look forward to collaborating with other deans, directors, and chairpersons to continue NADD’s strong tradition of social work leadership.”

Mather was appointed dean of the University of Utah College of Social Work in 2000, after serving six years as dean of social work at Wilfrid Laurier University in Ontario, Canada.  She has been instrumental in encouraging the development of partnerships between the University of Utah and the community, and currently serves on a number of university, professional, and nonprofit boards and committees.
