December 2, 2005 — University of Utah President Michael K. Young announced that Ivory Homes will sponsor ten new scholarships over the next five years for Hispanic students. Two of these scholarships will be given to the Hispanic chamber of Commerce and be called “The Hispanic Chamber Scholarships sponsored by Ivory Homes.” The announcement was made at the Annual Utah Hispanic Chamber of Commerce Christmas Gala last night. Ivory Homes currently provides twelve scholarships a year to Hispanic students attending the University of Utah.
The new scholarships will be for freshmen, transfer students , and continuing students at the University of Utah seeking a career in business and will be selected by the current Ivory Homes Scholarship Selection Committee, of which the Hispanic Chamber is already a member.
In addition to the scholarships, Ivory Homes will create and fund a new summer internship. This intern will work both at the Hispanic Chamber of Commerce and Ivory Homes. The new internship will be for Hispanic sophomores and juniors at the University of Utah interested in business management. Young stated that the internship, “will be a great opportunity for a Hispanic student to gain valuable experience at two excellent organizations and I am sure will be a great asset to the Hispanic Chamber.”
